Uniforms aren't a major factor in learning, instead it takes away attention from more important things and wastes time in school then why can't our school understand that and make it a non-uniform school?
ReplyDeleteSemaila Dulon
Uniforms allow students to have a great morning routine giving the time to have time to eat and prepare for school without worrying about what students are going to wear.
ReplyDeleteThought Provoking Question: What is your opinion on this statement and if you were the principal what would you do about uniforms?
Daniel Pena
Well - I strongly dislike uniforms because they stop you from expressing yourself. I LOVE to shop would be an understatement for me. Without uniforms, I wouldn't have an excuse to shop, for one thing - and everyone looks the same, and you can't have your own individual style. The way people dress reflects who they are a bit, and I wouldn't want that taken away from me. Plus, people always get me mixed up with others as it is. With uniforms, how will you tell your students apart? I'm still working on getting my teachers to remember my name. Uniforms do not help, unless I were to have my name plastered accross the front. (Ugly.) If I were to be expected to wear uniforms in High School, I'd fuss a little bit, but I wouldn't be able to change it, then. I'd probably become obssessed with shoes, or something. But I'd find positives in it. Parents would be happy because they wouldn't have to spend money, You wouldn't have to spend time picking the perfect outfit all the time, students wouldn't get bullied for not having Juicy Couture, or Hollister, or whatever. So there are plus sides and minus sides to both. Although I wouldn't want uniforms, I could see how it could be a good decision for the school.
ReplyDeleteThought Provoking Question: If the positions were to be reversed and you were president of a school would you react with a positive or negative conclusion on school uniform policies?
Alisanni,
DeletePlease write ONE thought provoking question, not a paragraph.
Many kids are against uniforms because it doesn't express who they are. There are many other places where someone can express themselves with their clothing so why does school have to be one of them?
ReplyDeleteUniform benefits a parent so they don't have to worry about draining their wallet. But it also benefits kids because they know exactly what to wear at school and don't have to worry about what outfit to wear on Friday all the time.
ReplyDeleteQuestion: Who is benefited the most with uniform? The parent or the kid?
When a school doesn't have a uniform policy, some students spend much time buying their clothes for the year which takes their attention away from things they have to do for school. Students who attend a school with a uniform policy just have to buy fewer clothes which saves money and they can pay more attention to their schoolwork. Many students dislike uniforms because they hate the look but they do not know how much money their parents spend on their apparel.
ReplyDeleteThought Provoking Question: If you were to switch places with your parents and the school year was about to begin, would you waste hundreds of dollars on clothes or waste half of that on a simple uniform and support the head of education?
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteUniform is a very controversial topic but in my opinion it needs to stay. If everyday the student around you are wearing the same outfits it makes u feel more unified and more as one like no one is better than another person. For example there might be some kids who have a higher income and can afford the newest jeans but there can also be that person who can't and they end up wearing something else attractive to the eye making him an easy target for bullying. Another reason why uniform is a good thing is because it's cheaper and usable for years while normal clothes have to be bought for many years to come and they are a lot more expensive. Question: why do you think even given the reasons why uniform is given do kids still resent wearing uniform?
ReplyDeleteWho is this? I cannot give a grade to a person named UNKNOWN.
DeleteUnknown==Kadija Kone
ReplyDeleteAlthough "no uniform" is an amazing opportunity, having a uniform is a thing that lots of people deal with, from elementary school to your future career! Wearing uniforms show us wear you come from and what you represent, like the highest role in office! Wearing uniform also provides equality, because everyone's wearing the same thing, and the same outfit colors. Meanwhile those who don't need to wear uniform probably struggle picking a decent popular outfit for every school day. Everyone knows in order to fit in to society these days you must have some fancy trend, the newest Jordans, the infinity scarfs, the Uggs, and the "True Religion" outfits etc... If you don't own/ have these you might get bullied, which is no fun considering its over cloths... While when wearing the same thing there is no need to bully over cloths hence everyone one else wear them too!
ReplyDeleteQuestion Time: What is better being harshly bullied or being the same as everybody else?
Unknown is Michelle Sosa
ReplyDeleteUniform has been worn throughout generations in a variety of schools and I strongly believe that this policy shouldn't be restrained and put away, instead it should be accepted by other schools. This policy benefits the parents because they don't have to waste as much money on uniforms than buying stylish expensive clothing that suits the young person. The parents can even claim taxes on the uniform to the government up to 779 dollars. Not only does this help the parents but it helps the students too. It allows the students to have a better routine in the mourning and they pay better attention to their studies then the clothes they have put on. Wearing regular clothes may low a kids self esteem because of certain insecurities that the child might have. Uniforms provides equality and self respect throughout schools and have shown students to have discipline. Students don't have to worry about what to wear every time they wake up to go to school. Question: what's more important to have, a better education or creativity shown through your clothes, and why?
♥Totally agree! Interesting question! ☺
DeleteNancy,
DeleteI appreciate that you have commented on your classmates question. That is very supportive of you!
Schools want their students to be disciplined and get good grades. Understandable. But what they don't want to do is work to get it. It seems to me that the schools rather use a 'bandage approach' to get what they want rather than face it head on. Instead of thinking that putting a kid in certain a packaging (clothes) will change them, schools should work with students hand in hand to get the best out of a student.
ReplyDeleteQuestion: Should schools work harder with their students to get the results they want, rather than take a shortcut by taking away their students freedom of expression through clothing?
I don't see another blogspot to ask the new thought provoking question so
ReplyDeleteQuestion: Do you think that women have the right to gain an abortion? why do you feel this way?
BY Daniel Pena 8-422
DeleteMost people know that the baby inside is a living thing and alive then why do they deny it when it comes to whether they should abort it or not, or should I say when they decide whether or not they should kill it?
ReplyDeleteWell, people in America can do anything they want, as long as it does not affect someone's pursuit of happiness, as said in the Constitution
ReplyDeleteThought Provoking Question- Since you can do anything as long as it does not affect someone, why should abortion be a problem, since you are not affecting someone pursuit of happiness?
Deshawn Magloire 8-422
Abortion should be a choice without obligation everyone woman should have the right to her own body. If the baby is a couple of weeks or months old it's understandable but if it's like 6-9 months that's where we head to the trail of murder.
ReplyDeleteThought provoking question: if you were in the position of a pregnant woman who couldn't care for an oncoming baby, how would u feel if u were denied getting an abortion to Americans who claim this to be the land of the free?
If an eight year old girl with severe didiblilities gets brutally raped and finds herself pregnant, and with no money or home, should she have to have this child, who may end up killing her, and itself through the process of being born? Or should she be able to choose to end the pregnancy, saving her life so that she may have children when she is a relationship and feels secure and comfortable?

Pro-life vs. Pro-choice
Alisanni,
DeleteThank you for your contributions to the Socratic Seminar, however, please follow directions. Only ONE thought provoking question must be posted.
Thought Provoking Question: Why is the government denying women their rights to do whatever they want with their bodies AKA their liberty?
ReplyDeleteThough provoking Question: If a woman was to be denied a safe and legal abortion because her reasoning wasn't "good enough", would you support her or the people denying her?
ReplyDeleteThought Provoking Question:Shouldn't women be given the choice to have an abortion if they cannot take care of the child
ReplyDeleteby Frandy Peralta 8-422
Michelle Sosa:
ReplyDeleteThought Provoking Question: Should a woman be denied her right to be able to do what they want, such as abortion, with their OWN body?
Sasha Rodriguez - thought provoking question: why is it such an issue for religious people to allow abortion?
ReplyDeleteThought provoking question: Why get pregnant in the first place?
ReplyDeleteWhat does abortion really do, does it really kill a newly to be born soul?
ReplyDeleteI think that the government should reconsider and fix gun laws. There are way to many innocent people losing their lives and it's a serious issue especially in schools.
ReplyDeleteThought provoking question: what if you had your gun taken away because of the actions of a few crazy people would u think that's fair?
I agree with you because innocent children are dying all because of people who have guns unnecessarily
DeleteI believe that guns should only be allowed to those who really need them. there have been way too many cases of people or children losing their lives because of crazy people who have guns.
ReplyDeleteQuestion: Do you think that the government is doing a good job in allowing people to have guns without knowing their real intentions?
Guns are a root of death but what about the people who provide it.
ReplyDeleteThought Provoking Question: Who is at fault for the number of deaths by gun? The People who own the gun or the people that provide citizens with the right to own them?
Daniel Pena 8-422
Those who are anti gun control may believe that the second amendment is something that every American is entitled to, and that banning or putting restrictions on guns would be unconstitutional. Many people deem gun control laws as unlawful or unconstitutional. However I just wanted to reiterate on the fact that deaths are first off in my opinion inevitable, and if to some people guns are necessary (military purposes) then they should be granted the right to have one and this is where trust forms a major part of gun control arguments/debates.
ReplyDeleteThought Provoking Question: Do you feel that trust takes up a major part in the debate on gun control? Why or why not.
Alisanni Guzman 8-422
Excellent question ☺... It honestly really makes you think! ♥
DeleteThought Provoking Question: Don't people know that even with stricter gun laws, people with evil intentions could still get their hands on guns illegally or as the article said, through stealing?
ReplyDeleteI agree! Nice question!
DeleteI truly believe guns are useful in many ways, but deadly in others. There for my question is: Should guns be aloud only for the good reasons they are involved/ used for?
ReplyDeleteI strongly believe that people should have the right for self defense in case of a difficult situation, but instead people with guns could be the cause of the problem in the first place.
ReplyDeleteQuestion: Why would one want to be able to have a gun in the first place, if guns are what caused people the urge to want to defend themselves?
Thought provoking question: How is the government supposed to trust people if they don't know what their intention is?
ReplyDeleteThought provoking question :
ReplyDeleteShould the gun law be changed for people with evil intentions with Guns as appose to people who would use guns for self defense ?
Thought Provoking Question- Is guns the only way for people to protect themselves from harm? Is there any other weapon that could create less controversy and act as protection of one's well being?
ReplyDeleteActually scratch that.
DeleteThought Provoking Question- Is there any other weapon that could create less controversy and act as protection of one's well being?
Though Provoking Question: Should just anyone be allowed to have access to such a violent weapon, or should only military personnel be given open access to guns?
ReplyDeleteThought Provoking Question- Can't we just find a substitute to guns in order to protect ourselves from harm. Frandy Peralta 8-422
ReplyDeleteIf teachers were allowed to own guns then how would that stop intruders that enters the school?

ReplyDeleteThought Provoking Question :Does the programs the child watches play a major role in whether or not they will be raised as a moral child?
ReplyDeleteDaniel Pena 8-422
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteWhat does it really take to raise a "moral child"?
ReplyDeleteThought Provoking Question: Even if parents think that they raise a "moral child" the right way, can't the people the child hangs out with teach and show him the wrong things which counter his/her parents' teachings?
ReplyDeleteThough Provoking Question: Is guilt a better substitute that shame when some thing is done wrong by a child?
ReplyDeleteThought Provoking Question: Which is more important when raising a moral child, raising to be the best in academics or be kind and happy?
ReplyDeleteThought Provoking Question: Does praising kids for their character rather than their action differ for every child?
ReplyDeleteThought Provoking Question: If a child is raise upon praise will that child keep their morales throughout their life?
ReplyDeleteBy Frandy Peralta 8-422
DeleteThought provoking question: what if you were in the child's position and your parent was forcing you to act a certain way
ReplyDeleteThought Provoking Question: why go through the effort and struggle to raise a "moral child" if they could be influenced to act otherwise outside of home?
ReplyDeleteHow does forcing your child to act a certain way affect a child's life?
ReplyDeleteWhat if a child is not generous after being taught the 'praising' way then how can he or she be taught about being generous and helpful?
ReplyDeleteMichelle Sosa
ReplyDeleteThought provoking question: Does it really depend on the parent whether the child is kind and caring?
Parents can Raise a "Moral Child" but the offspring does not always turn out so educated, or praised as they have been treated/ thought, So....
ReplyDeleteMy Thought Provoking Question Is: What shapes a child to becoming the expressive character that it has developed, and how does that character turn out to the parents? (Like how do the parents feel of the character by influence their child has developed ) ☺
Correction I meant *****Taught***** in the first sentence not thought!
DeleteThought Provoking Question: If the D.A.R.E. program knew that their curriculum was ineffective, why did they recently adopt the REAL program's more effective methods?
ReplyDeleteDiego Alonso 8-422
Thought Provoking Question- Why did not they make the prevention specialists make the old curriculum, so it would have been effective in the first 32 years?
ReplyDeleteDeshawn Magloire 8-422
Kids in middle school usually have a sense of right from wrong but when they start entering high school is when they begin to become rebellious so...
ReplyDeleteThought Provoking Question: Should the "Keepin' it REAL" program be aimed toward children at the ages of 15-18 instead of children in seventh grade?
Thought provoking question: should all the pressure go on the kids what about the parents or adults around them.
ReplyDeleteHow is keepin' it REAL different from D.A.R.E. and why is it more effective in keeping teens away from drugs?
ReplyDeleteMichelle Sosa
ReplyDeleteThought provoking question:why is it that when the D.A.R.E. curriculum was being shaped by police officers and teachers, people didn't it find a sufficient as when specialists decided to take over?
In the article it mentions how the D.A.R.E program did not work, therefore my question is:
ReplyDeleteWhat made the D.A.R.E not efficient enough to qualify and work than the REAL; what similarities and differences do thy share? ☺
Thought Provoking Question: What is the ultimate difference between keepin' it real and D.A.R.E and how is one more effective/ efficient than the other when it comes to the topic of drug prevention?
ReplyDeletethought provoking question: what is the difference between "keeping it REAL" and D.A.R.E, and which is more effective?
ReplyDeleteThought Provoking Question: why did telling students that drugs were harmful not encourage them to stay away from it that much?
ReplyDeleteThough Provoking Question: Isn't it more the judge's fault that the death penalty is based on preference, should the power of death penalty only be given to a higher rank of authority?
ReplyDeleteDaniel Pena 8-422
Since the death penalty is highly based on racial preference, dose not deter people from committing crimes and is highly ineffective...
ReplyDeleteThought Provoking Question- What can be a good substitution or a replacement for the Death penalty, that actually works well with the criminal justice system?
Deshawn Magloire 8- 422
Why does someone else have the right to kill another human being no matter the situation how would you feel if you were in the position of the person who needs to be killed?
ReplyDeleteThought Provoking Question: Why is life imprisonment more effective and more just than the death penalty?
ReplyDeleteThe D.A.R.E Program- This One Works
ReplyDeleteThough Provoking Question: Do you think a program which was founded by police officers and teachers rather than professionals, had any chance of success?
Its Time to Abolish the Death Penalty
ReplyDeleteThought Provoking Question: Would the Death Penalty be a justifiable punishment if variables such as racism and revenge were taking out of the equation?
Thought provoking question: why would the death penalty be considered, if one of the reasons behind this was to prevent more violence from occurring?
ReplyDeleteWhat non biased way can jugdement be placed to prevent crimes from being committed
ReplyDeleteBy Frandy Peralta 8-422
What standard does the death penalty set ? As appose to imprisonment
ReplyDeleteThought provoking question: should someone else other than yourself be allowed to decide whether or not your life should remain or be abolished?
ReplyDeletealisanni guzman
Death penalty is considered racist sometimes but can't life imprisonment be also considered racist if there is racism in jail then how can racism be avoided?
ReplyDeleteCant there be other ways to punish those who commit a crime, other than killing them?
ReplyDeleteDana Ramirez 8-422
Why is gay marriage such an issue ? Why can't it be equal men and women want to get married let them, if same sex couples want to get married let them !
ReplyDeleteThought Provoking Question: Is Donald Trump just trying to get publicity in order for him to be known by more people? Explain your reasoning.
ReplyDeleteDaniel Pena 8-422
Thought provoking question: Was the rude and superficial comments about Latinos said just because of his opinion on this race or for popularity in this presidential election?
ReplyDeleteDoes Donald trump have the right to speak like this especially cause this is against what the u.s. Stands for?
ReplyDeleteDonald Trump knows that these degrading comments would be disliked by many people in the U.S.
ReplyDeleteThought Provoking Question: Is there a reason or intention that Trump has that causes him to say these things? What is he trying to do so that he can win the campaign?
Donald Trump has discriminated many races, people come to America for a chance of a better life, to fight of persecution, and other difficulties amoung where they come from, the the question is:
ReplyDeleteSO why should Donald Trump be president of a united country when he is a racist candidate himself; would you want him as president, and why? ☻

ReplyDeleteStopping Animal Testing is a very debatable topic to discuss, as many have different opinions toward it.
ReplyDeleteThought Provoking Question is: Do you think Taking a stand towards Animal testing is an effective way to stop the cruelty considering the many negative effects the animal testing has?
Why are we taking advantage of the fact that animals cannot take a stand by conducting painful experiments on them?
ReplyDeleteIs it justified to say that all animals are going to die so you might as well use it while you have it?
ReplyDeleteAnimals have no rights or protection provided for them so they are vulnerable and are used for experimentation.
ReplyDeleteThought Provoking Question: Since they have no voice that allows them to take a stand or protest against this injustice, shouldn't we give them the same chance we would get if we were put in their position?
Thought Provoking Question: If we were to take a stand and try to eradicate animal testing what would be the pros and cons to it?
ReplyDeleteDaniel Pena 8-422
Thought provoking question: why don't people who do animal testing test what ever products that they test one animals on humans with a human volunteer?

ReplyDeleteThought Provoking Question- Has there been any helpful discoveries made from animal testing to justify it to keep on going.
ReplyDeleteThough Provoking Question: Are there anyway for testing to happen where animals are not the subjects?
ReplyDeleteThought Provoking Question: Why are people denying the fact that animals experience pain just like humans and use the reason that animals lack knowledge and understanding to back up why animal testing is acceptable?
ReplyDeleteAlso, what are ways that humans can take a stand for animals to show that humans also go against the experimentation of animals?
ReplyDeleteThought Provoking Question: If an animal is born for the purpose of being tested on does that justify the experimentation on the animal?
